In the Old Testament, Kings were the Mediators between God & His people. It was their job to keep the people close to and in covenant with The Lord. They didn't always do that, and neither do the "kings" today. These days, we allow things of this world such as money, power, our country, and more be the "king" of our lives. Sometimes, we'll even allow people such as celebrities and politicians control us, too. Remember, Proverbs 21:1 says, "The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes."
